History

Jack Martin and Patsy Woods met in high school in San Antonio, Texas. Jack and Patsy have enjoyed successful careers in business and philanthropy, and think of the ranch as home while also maintaining a residence in Dallas, Texas. They have three grown children who share their love of the land and its history.

Mackenzie Martin Cook lives in McKinney and works in Dallas with her husband Joshua Cook. They have a son, Jack Henry.

Jack Andrew (Andy) Martin lives and works in Maine with his partner Hannah Stone. They have two daughters, Charlene and Yvette.

Shannon Martin lives and works in Houston with her husband Zachary Borgan.

Jack and Patsy are both fourth generation Texans, and 6th and 7th generation farmers and ranchers, respectively. They own and operate JPM Ranch Company, including Mallard Creek Ranch and the Open C Ranch, two ranches within ten miles of each other in Montague County, Texas.

Open C Ranch

The Open C Ranch is just north of Forestburg on Dye Mound Road. The Open C is a working ranch, owned and operated by Patsy’s family since the 1800’s. In recent years, Jack and Patsy have become sole owners of the Open C Ranch by purchasing interests from Patsy’s family.

Mallard Creek Ranch

Mallard Creek Ranch is half way between Montague and Forestburg on Texas FM 455. It is composed of the Hundley, Tate and Horn Ranches which the Martin’s acquired over ten years ago. Combined with the Open C, the Mallard Creek Ranch forms JPM Ranch as it exists today.
